Wedding Menu Tasting

Today we visited Novelty Hill - Januik with two of our closest friends to have our wedding menu tasting.  As I'm sure you can guess, this is where the venue prepares a sampling of the catering menu to help plan the wedding menu.  When we arrived, the dining room was set up with a table for each party of four(couple plus two guests).  Each person also received a sheet outlining what was being served with room for notes and a rating.  The kitchen staff quickly set out a buffet of salads, sides, and several main dishes that we could go up and serve ourselves.  We also received a few dishes served to the table family style as well as wine pairings.

We sampled so much, I feel the need to list it all:
  • Meat and cheese display
  • Arugula and pear salad
  • Couscous salad with citrus yogurt dressing(upper right)
  • Robuchon mashed potatoes(upper right)
  • Herbed polenta(upper right)
  • Roasted vegetables
  • Broccoli rabe in garlic & lemon sauce(upper right)
  • Wild salmon in beurre fondue sauce
  • Pan roasted beef tenderloin in red wine demi sauce
  • Chicken tagine
  • Red wine and beet ganache salad(upper left)
  • Pan roasted Halibut, english peas, chard, onion, sorrel sauce(center)
  • Papparedelle pasta, wild mushrooms, sous vide egg, arugula(lower left)
  • Mini quesadillas(lower right)
  • Vegetable spring roll(lower right)
  • Dungeness crab cakes(lower right)
  • Deviled eggs with dungeness crab mousse(lower right)
  • Smoked salmon croque monsieur with herbed cream cheese and red onion(lower right)
  • Assorted brick oven pizzas
That list is so long, it's no wonder I left the winery feeling stuffed.  When we got home, I did a quick comparison of all our notes.  We definitely have some front runners for our selections!  I'm really impressed with today's taste test and hope we get our menu ironed out soon.
